Halal Accuracy Disclaimer

Halal status on HalalNearby comes from the community, owners, and public sources. It can be wrong or out of date. Always confirm directly with the restaurant before you rely on it.

Last updated: June 15, 2026

We are not a halal-certifying authority.

The halal labels on HalalNearby are signals to help you decide — not a religious certification and not a guarantee. If halal compliance matters to you (and it does), confirm it directly with the restaurant — ask about their certificate, suppliers, and slaughter method — before you eat there.

What this disclaimer covers

HalalNearby publicly displays a halal “confidence” signal for third-party restaurants. This page explains exactly what those signals mean, what they do not mean, and your responsibility before relying on them.

We are not a certifying body

HalalNearby is a discovery platform, not a halal certification authority. The verification sources we may show — a certificate, the owner, a restaurant’s website, the community, the HalalNearby team, or Google business info — are informational aids. They are not, and should not be read as, certification by a recognized halal authority. None of our labels is a substitute for certification by such an authority.

What each label means — and its limits

Verified Halal

We have seen supporting evidence — such as a halal certificate, the restaurant's official website, our own team's check, or Google business info. This reflects evidence as of a point in time. Certificates expire, suppliers change, and ownership changes. It is NOT a perpetual warranty that the food is and will remain halal.

Owner-Reported

The restaurant's owner reports the establishment as halal. We have not independently verified this claim. It is the owner's statement, not our certification.

Muslim-Friendly

The restaurant offers no-pork or partial halal options, but is not fully halal-certified. Treat this as a convenience signal, not a guarantee of full halal compliance.

Needs Verification

We do not yet have enough trustworthy evidence to state a halal status. Be especially careful and confirm directly with the restaurant.

Sources are informational, not guarantees

Even our strongest label, Verified Halal, reflects the evidence we had at a specific point in time. Halal status changes: certificates lapse, kitchens change suppliers, menus change, and restaurants change hands. A label you saw last month may not hold today. Check the “last verified” and source information shown on each restaurant page.

Verify independently before relying

You are responsible for confirming halal status before you rely on it. We strongly recommend you contact the restaurant directly and ask for their halal certificate, supplier details, and slaughter method — particularly if you have strict requirements. Do not treat any label here as a substitute for that confirmation.

Reporting & corrections

If you believe a halal status is wrong or out of date, please report it using the report option on the restaurant’s page or contact us at info@ikeson.com. We review and act on community reports, but reports take time to process.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, HalalNearby (operated by IKESON Technology Solutions) and its operators are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your reliance on a halal status, label, or verification source shown on the Service. This disclaimer forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Ontario or Canadian law.
